New on citizensinformation.ie

This news item was posted on July 11, 2022

The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance has increased by €100 per eligible child. The extra Allowance will be paid from the week commencing 18 July 2022.

The School Transport Scheme will be free of charge this year.

Some tenancy laws changed from 6 July:

  • Landlords must now sent a copy of the notice of termination to the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) at the same time they send it to the tenant. Otherwise the notice will be invalid.
  • The amount of notice the landlord must now give a tenant has increased for tenancies in place for 3 years or less. Different rules apply if the tenant has breached their obligations.
  • The time limit for referring a dispute about a notice of termination to the RTB has increased from 28 days to 90 days, as long as the tenant has kept their obligations
  • Landlords must make every reasonable effort to get the tenant’s contact details, so they can offer to re-let the property back to them if it becomes available again (for example, following refurbishment or if the property didn’t sell)

The 6 year time limit for participation in the Rural Social Scheme has been removed.
